A Basketball Court With Concrete Paving Slabs
The first time I ever saw concrete paving slabs was when I was about 10 and I wanted a new basketball court in the back yard. My dad wanted to help me get what I wanted, but at the time our family didn’t have the money to hire a contractor to come in and pour a nice concrete slab for the court. But we didn’t take no for an answer, and my dad and I went to the local hardware store to get some ideas.
What we ended up coming up with was the idea to use concrete pavers to make a court instead of pouring a slab of concrete. It was a lot cheaper, and we could do all of the work ourselves and not have to hire an expensive contractor. So we got our first load of paving slabs and took them home to get started. After clearing the area for the court, we took great care to level the ground, used sand for the foundation (which allowed us to level each paving slab), and in a few weeks we had our court. Then it just took a little concrete to install the pole to hold the hoop, and we played on that court for many years after that.
What do you think about this? What other creative ideas do you have for concrete paving slabs, or any other kind of paving slab for that matter? I know there are a lot of creative people out there looking to make great looking yards and patios and still save some money. Let us know what you have come up with
