The basic concrete block is naturally the very beginning of the foundation as well as new building construction. It doesn’t seem like the selection of a concrete block can really mean much in the long term, but the more you select properly the stronger and better the building will be.
What about cutting costs? Won’t selecting the highest quality concrete cost more than getting away with a lot of filler material and low density ash? Initially, cutting a few corners might seem like a good idea, but the reality is pretty simple. Poor construction is an unacceptable liability that can haunt your business and personal life for the rest of your days. Not only is it unsafe to use poor building materials, but the ethical quandary is not the only issue.
The value of using the concrete block that meets or exceeds the National Concrete Masonry Association standards is truly elemental. Since the blocks are use not just as a base for new buildings but the also serve as support structures. Large buildings rely on concrete blocks to hold up the many steel beams that keep the structure of the building in place. Their role becomes vital to maintaining the building’s integrity under all conditions.
There are many factors that can play into a building with a poor structure. These issues may never come to light unless some sort of disaster strikes. Unfortunately, during weather or man made disasters, the buildings with the weakest structures are obviously the first to go. While quality concrete is not just the only determining factor in creating a sound building, it is one of the most important.
