Concrete Flooring

One of the new favorite flooring materials to be used by homeowners as well as designers across the nation is concrete flooring. Instead of covering the concrete with carpet or tile, the concrete itself becomes the flooring.

This floor treatment is being found not only in homes, but also in stores, offices, and restaurants. Not only are there many options for concrete floors, there are also several health benefits.

When we are talking concrete floors, we are not just talking about boring concrete gray here. Concrete can be acid stained, have overlays or be painted. The new designs use such tools as saw cuts to add texture and interest to the floor.

These concrete floors are great for homes that have radiant floor heating. There is no carpet or pad to absorb the heat. The room gets all the benefit of the heating system.

If your home is designed for passive solar heating with large southerly facing windows, the designer concrete floor is the best thing to soak up that solar heat. Once warmed during the day, the concrete can radiate heat back into the room well through the night.

Concrete can be colored so that it blends well with the other elements in the room. Add an overlay for a unique floor like no other.

Concrete flooring is easily maintained. It can be swept with an normal broom and mopped using any good floor cleaner and water. There is no danger of warping like wood flooring and spills can be cleaned easily.
