Fish Ponds

Fish Ponds Add Beauty To A Yard

If you have seen fish ponds in your friends or neighbor’s yards, you know the beauty that they can add.

Fish ponds are artificially made ponds that are lined for keeping ornamental fish. In addition to the fish, you may want to add some plants that will grow under water but add interest and even more beauty to your fish pond.

If you are interested in installing a fish pond, there are several ways to go about it. Two will be described here.

Perhaps the easiest way to install a fish pond is to use a pre-molded liner. These liners are made of a rigid plastic and installation is very easy. You will need to dig a hole in the yard to contain the fish pond in the ground or you may choose to use landscape blocks to build up the ground level to meet the pond that you choose. In either case you will need to backfill with find dirt around the plastic liner in order to support the pond. If the pond you chose has a falls attachment, then you will also need to use landscape blocks to build up a dirt mound that will support the slide like falls. You may choose to add appropriate flowers or shrubs around the fish pond.

A second way to install a fish pond that offers more flexibility but is much more labor intense is to use a flexible liner. The flexible liner will allow you to have a larger pond or one of an irregular shape.
