Choosing Fountain Pumps Made Easy

If water fountains are the focal point of your outdoor or indoor decor of your home, then you want to make sure that when choosing fountain pumps you get this right. Nothing spoils things like a fountain that does not work or even works too well (soaking guests may not find humor in being involuntarily showered at your events). You want to make sure that your water fountain has the right consistency since it is the water pouring from the structure that completes the design. For this reason good fountain pumps are important.

There are simple ways to explain it but even then the way fountain pumps work can be complicated if you are not a pro. Here are some basic things to keep in mind when choosing a pump, but remember this is just the start.

The size of the pump’s head will determine the maximum height the water is pumped vertically. These come in measurements of feet. The size associated with the head tells you how high the water will go so an 8 feet pump sends the water 8 feet up.

Your fountain pump will push water using the terms “gallons per minute” and “gallons per hour” or GPM and GPH respectively. Each are rated at varying heights and factor in as parts in the “pump curve”. The pump curve basically measures how much water is curved at each height. Just think of a water fountain with different levels of water, some bend almost immediately after leaving the source while some go up then curve over giving what looks like layers. That is what this component of fountain pumps takes care of.
