Sit And Relax Under Your Porch Awning
There is nothing more peaceful than sitting under your porch awning and enjoying the afternoon breeze with a loved one. Having an awning on your porch opens up the possibilities for spending your afternoon.
Awnings are the part of the roof that sticks out further from the outside wall of your house. The awnings are built in many different dimensions depending on what it will be used for.
For example, if you wanted an awning built far enough out so that your window sills do not get wet when it rains, you would need to have it built so that it hangs about two feet off of the wall.
If you are looking to use the awning over your porch as a roof, you should make it several feet off of the wall. Be careful if you are going to do this. Most cities have regulations as to how far you can build permanent structures off of the front or back of your house.
You can check with your local offices and find out if there are restrictions. They will probably just need to know the address of the property that is being enhanced. In some cases you will have to have a building permit to add an awning.
A lot of houses have an awning already in place. If you are looking to purchase a house, look for one that has an awning already built in. If the awning is covering the porch area, you will save a lot of money if you do not have to do it yourself.
