Zoysia Grass For Easy Care Lawns
If you want a cushiony, dense turf for your lawn, try Zoysia Grass. This is the grass that is often used for areas of high traffic such as golf courses. This grass holds up great to traffic, and looks great with just a little care and upkeep. It does have some limits however. If you are interested in Zoysia, keep the following in mind.
Zoysia grass is very slow growing. You may only have to mow this grass once per season if at all. The slow growth makes it perfect for those who desire maintenance free lawns that are still green and not just another rock garden.
If you travel often and are gone for weeks at a time this is the perfect grass for you. It is wonderful for people who use their RVs to get away from the heat for the summer. Since it rarely has to be mowed, you will not have to contract a landscape team that mows your lawn on a weekly basis. It always looks well manicured. Just set your sparkler system to automatic and forget the grass all summer long.
Zoysia should not be planted in Northern states. If you get a winter that has lots of snow and frigid temperatures, this grass is not for you. Even the most weather resistant varieties turn yellow when cold hits. That means that your lawn will turn brown sometime in September and not green up again until sometime in April. Instead, you should plant some winter hardy grass that will offer you the green lawn you want.
